Altar Ministry
A group of women who devote their time to cleaning the sacred items on the altar, washing the purificators, watering the flowers if needed, dusting the pews and windows, cleaning the holy water cups and making sure the whole church is kept sparkling clean for the celebration of our liturgy.
Eucharistic Ministers,
Lectors, Altar Servers
Schedules for all who serve at Masses are prepared at approximately two-month intervals and are available in the sacristy following timely notice in the Bulletin.
Every effort is made to place people at the Masses that are most convenient for them, but at times, especially in the winter months, when so many are away we may request that those serving on the altar help out at Masses that are not always their preference. When unable to make an appointed assignment, persons should try to find substitutes before calling Marie Johnson, who will always fill in if all else fails.
All who serve at the altar are expected to wear attire appropriate to the dignity and sanctity of the service.
Eucharistic ministers are chosen by the Pastor; they must attend instruction sessions before being commissioned.
Lectors may volunteer for the position, but must have good presence, be able to read with expression and ease, and must review the readings beforehand in order to have a good grasp of their meaning.
Altar servers are trained periodically by the Pastor.
Anyone interested in becoming a Eucharistic minister, Lector or Altar server may contact Altar Services Ministry
