Religious Education Program

St. John the Evangelist's Religious Education Program strives to bring children and their families into communion with Jesus Christ through various group activities, prayer experiences, participation in the Sunday Liturgy of the Mass and instruction in the Gospel messages through the study of Holy Scripture and the Traditions of the Church. The Sacred Deposit of Faith has been entrusted to us by Christ and his apostles must be passed on to our youth.

Registratin for Religious Education classes for year 2006-2007 will be held on the weekend of August 26th - 27th, Saturday, 3:00pm - 6:00pm, Sunday 8:00am - 12:00 noon. Registration will continue during the month of September during office hours, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00 noon and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Registration fees are $20.00 per child with a maximum of $50.00 per family. Please make checks out to St. John's R.E. Program.

Classes will begin the week of October 1st. Grades 1 and 2 meet on Wednesday from 4:30 - 5:30pm. Grades 3 and 4 meet on Monday, 4:30 - 5:30pm. Grade 7 meets on Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 8:00pm. Class Schedule booklets and textbooks are available at registration.

The Confirmation Program meets on Sundays. Confirmation I, grade 8 meets on the 4th Sunday of the month. Confirmation II, grade 9 meets on the second Sunday of the month. Confirmation II, grade 10 meets on the first Sunday of the month. Holiday weekend classes are moved to the following weekend. All classes meet from 3:00 to 4:55 pm and close with 5:00pm Mass. We us components of the William H. Sadlier Parish Faith Formation Curriculum, We Believe for grades 1-6 and Faith and Witness for grade seven. Sadlier's One Faith, One Loard, and The Spirit Sets Us Free, are used for our Confirmation youth as well as the newly approved diocesan program, As In A Mirror. We follow Religion Guidelines for the Diocese of Fall River and the Child Maltreatment Prevention Program required by Catholic Social Services.
